Mike's Apiaries

 Mike's Apiaries is a family run business selling 100% pure Michigan honey and honey products.

Besides having been a captain for the Portage Fire Department (recently retired), Dennis McGahan is a beekeeper.  He has been keeping company with bees since 1990.  Starting with only several hives, he and his son, Michael, worked together.  In 1991, Michael died while waiting for a liver transplant.  In honor of his son, Dennis named his business “Mike’s Apiaries”.

Mike's Apiaries has expanded and shrunk to all sizes of production throughout the years. At most, Dennis had about 200 hives total. Today, he has just over 100.  Some of his family members that help out now include his son Travis (who helps with sales and other aspects), and his grandson Zach (who helps throughout the operation including maintaining the website and social media).

Over the years, Dennis has learned that there is a lot more to bees then what first meets the eye.

Mike’s Apiaries carries a full line of Michigan honey products including wildflower honey, raw honey, chunk honey, flavored honey, crème honey, honey straws, comb honey, honey soap, beeswax, beeswax candles, beeswax lotion, beeswax lip-balm, and honey candy.
